What happened to Kellyanne Conway?

A few months ago, it seemed like you couldn’t turn on the TV, open a newspaper, or even turn on your phone without seeing the blond hair and slightly oversized smile of Kellyanne Conway. As the woman who successfully ran Donald Trump’s campaign, Conway was constantly invited on political talk shows and to give her opinion on almost every issue. This rise to stardom was short-lived as she was soon called out for her inaccuracies. Conway’s true issues began on January 20th when she coined the term “alternative facts” to describe President Trump’s lie. The media and public tore her apart for this contradictory statement. After that point, the media watched her moves more closely and she was constantly called out on her mistakes, making her the subject of several Saturday Night Live skits. The public outrage culminated on February 28th when a photo was released showing Conway sitting on a sofa with her legs tucked under her. The reactions ranged from indifference to outrage, sparking a national controversy over the decorum of women in the White House. Over the following several weeks, there has been a noticeable decrease in Kellyanne’s media presence. This has begged many people to ask the question: has Conway’s retreat from the spotlight been a natural progression of the end of the campaign or an orchestrated move by the new administration?

There are many possible reasons for the disappearance of Kellyanne Conway but some are more likely than others. Out of all the options, two make the most sense: either the news shows have gotten bored of her dramatics and have looked for more reliable sources or the Trump administration has purposely limited her media exposure for fear of embarrassment. Every time Kellyanne appears on a television show, the host inevitably has to cut her off, redirect her answers, or call her out on her “alternative facts”. It is entirely possible that the producers of these shows realized that she isn’t exactly an expert on what is happening in the White House and decided to look for more credible information. This may seem slightly unlikely because her antics often provide good rating to the shows; more likely, the White House was embarrassed by the many scandals Conway created. Not only would these create negative press directed towards the new administration, but it would also make it harder for President Trump to gain support for his legislation. While we may never know exactly what caused Kellyanne’s downfall, it can probably be traced back to the “dishonest media”.
