Spacey’s Bad Acting

Hey guys, I know it’s been a while-sorry I’ve been busy with college and start of the school year stuff, but I want to get back to blogging. One thing that has got me really interested back into contemporary affairs is the whole business of Kevin Spacey. Back when he was a young actor, he allegedly sexually assaulted a then 14 year old actor at a cast party. This has been one of the latest revelations regarding sexual assaults in Hollywood. Harvey Weinstein has also come under scrutiny for assault too. However, Weinstein has followed the usual path in these matters. He denies any non-consensual acts. On the other hand, Spacey has admitted that the report might be true, but then, in the same breath, came out of the closet. For some reason, his publicist thought coming out of the closet would explain away his disgusting acts towards a 14 year old boy. He is conflating this idea that coming out as gay, a great thing for someone gay to do, is equal to coming out as a sexual assaulter. Obviously, having it revealed that one is a sexual assaulter is a millions times less good than coming out as gay. His attempt to blur the two together only seeks to detract from people who actually have a tough time coming out. Coming out, from what I have seen, heard, and read is hard enough. But, when Spacey uses it as an excuse for sexual assault, he is really just bringing people down and shifting blame. Coming out is a process of being comfortable with who you are in society, not a way to make up for being horrible. Kevin Spacey has to own up to his actions and stop passing blame onto unrelated cause.
